About G&A Solidworks
A reinforced concrete and groundworks company that would rather quote honestly and turn up when we said we would.
Who we are
Concrete people, not salespeople
G&A Solidworks Ltd is a reinforced concrete and groundworks contractor working with main contractors, developers and civil engineering clients across the UK.
We shutter, fix and pour with our own gangs. That matters more than it sounds: when the same company sets out the formwork and fixes the steel, the reinforcement suits the shutter it is going into, and anything that needs adjusting on the day gets adjusted rather than argued about.
Most of what we do is repeat work and word of mouth. That only happens if the price you were quoted is the price you pay, the gangs arrive when we said they would, and the site is left as we found it.
How we work
What you can expect
Quoted properly
Written quotations that itemise labour, plant, formwork and concrete separately, so you can see exactly what you're paying for and compare like with like.
Built to drawing
We work to your structural engineer's design and bar bending schedules, and set out from your grid before anything is fixed. Guessing costs more than measuring.
Poured by us
The gang that shutters and fixes the steel is the gang that pours it, with pump and plant arranged as part of the package.
Straight answers
If a pour needs four weeks we'll tell you four weeks. If something in the design won't work, we'll say so before you've paid for it.
Common questions
Frequently asked
Do you work labour-only, or supply and fix?
Both. Some contractors want labour-only gangs for shuttering or steel fixing against their own materials; most ask us to take the whole package including materials, plant and pump. Either way one company is responsible for the pour, and anything that needs adjusting on the day is sorted there and then rather than becoming somebody else's problem.
Do I need a structural engineer before I contact you?
For anything structural, yes — we build to a structural engineer's drawings and bar bending schedules, and building control will want to see them. If you haven't got that far yet, call us anyway. We'll tell you what's likely to be involved and can point you towards engineers we've worked with.
How long does a job take?
It depends entirely on the size of the package and the pour sequence. A pad foundation package is usually days rather than weeks once we're on site; a full frame runs floor by floor to your programme, with strike times governed by the cube results rather than by optimism. We'll give you a realistic duration with the quotation rather than an optimistic one.
What concrete finishes can you achieve?
Tamped, floated, power-floated or brushed depending on what the slab is for, and fair-faced formwork where the concrete is going to be seen. We'll tell you what is realistically achievable with the shutter and the mix specified before you commit to it.
Which areas do you cover?
We work across the UK. Travel, accommodation and access affect the price on longer distances, so it's worth a quick phone call to talk through where the job is before we quote.
How do I get a price?
Send the tender pack, GA drawings or engineer's details through the enquiry form, email them to sales@gasolidworks.co.uk, or call +44 7711 952879. The more detail you can give us — concrete volumes, formwork areas, rebar tonnage, programme dates and access — the more accurate the quotation will be.
